27th June 2015 : V-Force Salute

As part of her 'farewell to flight'; the final flying season of the world's last remaining airworthy Vulcan, XH558 made her return to the north-east today.

Piloted by Martin Withers the delta winged bomber made three flypasts over the museum as part of her nationwide V-Force Salute tour. Arriving slightly ahead of schedule from a south westerly direction she graced the skies over the museum for the last time in front of approx. 1400 fans before coasting out and continuing her journey north.

Our own Vulcan was open to the public, allowing those that waited patiently a visit to the cramped and humid cockpit and experience the kind of conditions crew's would've faced during Cold War as well as Falklands Operations.

Visitors also got a close up view of the excellent progress made in the restoration of our 'northeast' trident and we hope that you return for its grand opening on 11 July, our next event.
