Bishopton opened as a World War One 3rd Class Night Landing Ground for use by 36(HD)Sqn. It covered 500 x 580 yards (60 acres) and was in operation by October 1916. By July 1917 it had been re-designated a 2nd Class Night Landing Ground and also made available as a Day Landing Ground under the same classification. Operations ceased on 13th August 1919.
