79Sqn's North East history
79Sqn arrived at Acklington from Sealand on 13th July 1940
with Hurricane I aircraft. The unit had already provided defensive
duties over France as well as taking part in the battle of Britain.
It remained at Acklington for little over a month before moving back
South to Biggin Hill in preparation for a move to India.
